We recently sat down with Thunder Head of Federal, Maurine Fanguy, to learn a little more about our government guru. Here’s what she had to say!
Q. Maurine, tell us a little bit about your role at Thunder.
As Head of Federal at Thunder, I lead our strategy and delivery for government clients, helping agencies transform how they serve the public through cutting-edge SaaS platforms like Salesforce and Amazon Connect. I work at the intersection of mission needs and rapid technology execution to ensure we deliver solutions that are fast, secure, and built for mission impact.
Q. What made you want to join Thunder?
Speed to delivery. As a former Federal customer, I’ve seen firsthand how critical technology is executing on the mission. Whether it’s serving veterans, securing borders, or delivering benefits like Social Security, the speed at which agencies deploy technology truly matters for individual citizens, as well as for the country.
I joined Thunder because they don’t just talk about modernizing government—they deliver fast. Their relentless focus on rapid, responsible implementation means Federal teams can move from policy to production without the usual delays. That speed, paired with a deep understanding of government needs, is exactly what I used to wish for as a customer. Now I get to help make it real.
Q. You’ve proven yourself to be a growth leader for federal services in the tech industry across an impressive career. Can you tell us a little bit about your unique background?
I grew up as an Army brat, and that experience shaped everything—my worldview, my resilience, and my deep respect for public service. I was always inspired by the mission of government, which is why, early in my career at a consulting firm, I deliberately sought out opportunities to work with Federal agencies instead of the more traditional paths at that time of supporting high-tech or banking clients.
After 9/11, I helped launch a new Homeland Security consulting practice at a global firm, and later had the honor of serving at the Transportation Security Administration in the early days of the agency, where I led cutting-edge technology programs focused on protecting millions of travelers and workers. Over the years, I’ve worked across sectors—from government to systems integrators to high-tech manufacturing—supporting public sector customers not just in the U.S., but around the world.
Now, I bring that full-spectrum experience to Thunder, where we’re reimagining how government can move faster, deliver better, and build smarter with modern, AI-powered SaaS solutions.
Q. Can you share some examples of how AI, automation, and cloud platforms help scale with mission needs of government agencies?
AI, automation, and cloud platforms help government agencies scale by making service delivery faster, smarter, and more resilient. AI can triage requests, surface insights, and personalize experiences. Automation eliminates repetitive tasks so staff can focus on mission-critical work. Cloud platforms—and especially SaaS solutions—cut time to delivery by offering pre-built, configurable capabilities that can be deployed quickly and securely. That means agencies can launch and adapt solutions in weeks, not years, while also benefiting from continuous innovation, security updates, and scalability to meet changing mission demands.
Q. We see from your LinkedIn profile that you not only lead in the Federal field, but in the cookie field as well! What’s it like to be a 9-year tenured Girl Scout Troop leader?
Leading a Girl Scout troop for nine years was a truly transformational experience. I went into it thinking I was there to give back, but in so many ways, I gained even more. I thought I understood budgeting, until our troop had to plan and prepare every meal for a 200-person weekend campout on less than $5 per person per day. And few things teach logistics like coordinating the delivery and distribution of 3,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.
One of the most rewarding moments came recently, when I attended my daughter’s high school graduation. It wasn’t just about her—I was celebrating alongside so many of our troop members and their families, all of whom I’ve watched grow into incredible young leaders. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of their journey.
Q. Last one! As a leader at Thunder, what are you most excited about in the near future for the rapidly growing company?
What excites me most is the opportunity to bring Thunder’s innovation and success in the commercial space to the public sector. We’ve proven that speed, agility, and user-centered design can drive real transformation for some of the world’s most recognized brands—and now we get to bring that same energy to government missions that impact millions of lives.
As the company grows, I’m especially excited about scaling our AI-powered SaaS solutions for government—solutions that are not just modern, but practical, secure, and built for the complexity of public service. The chance to pair Thunder’s tech-forward DNA with the unique needs of federal agencies is something I’m incredibly proud to be part of.
